ABOUT
Jaden O'Berry is a lighting designer and director based out of Chicago, Illinois
She has been involved in theatre since a fourth grade parody/farcical production of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Since then, she has been involved in well over 50 different productions, both educational and professional, ranging from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Simon Stephens, to Roustabout: The Great Circus Train Wreck! by Jay Torrence.
Jaden has been involved in lighting design and electrical work since 2014, been given praise for her work by official adjudicators, and worked with professionals in the theatre field to give her a better understanding of life after college.
Lighting Design and Directing have been such impactful and emotional trips for Jaden. She has "the ability to create a specific atmosphere with nothing but an empty stage. There is an endless amount of possibilities."
Outside of theatre, Jaden is passionate about writing, Shakespeare, and social justice. She is known to be highly motivated, and refuses to give in to prejudice, especially against LGBTQIA+ people, a community in which she identifies.
Jaden's alma mater is Saginaw Valley State University where she earned a B.A. in Theatre with a focus in Lighting Design while also double minoring in English and Creative Writing. She graduated in May of 2022 and moved on to Illinois State University to earn an MFA in Lighting Design as a graduate teaching assistant. Her masters degree is estimated in May of 2025.
Jaden is also a proud alumni of Michigan Thespian Troupe #4890.
